What is Our Why?

Do you ever find yourself pondering the question, or get asked, "What is our why?" We all understand there are a variety of personal and practical reasons for doing what we each do to make a living. I'm confident many of those reasons apply to each one of us. Of course, and to varying degrees, we each have to consider family, financial needs, self-esteem, pursuing interests, etc... However, once you walk through the door at work, or step into your home office, open up the laptop, grab the tool box, do the presentation, or whatever is your chosen profession, why are you doing what it is you do?

Today, at BidPrime, we have a special reason for reflecting upon that question. Tomorrow, we celebrate the eighth anniversary of our company. To this point, it has been a rewarding, interesting, and educational journey. Step back in time, as a few members of our team talk about the early days of BidPrime.

While proud of this milestone, we understand, and are thrilled in acknowledging, that we have much more to accomplish. To a person at BidPrime, we are indebted to, and appreciative of, our clients for their confidence in us. From a company perspective, our clients are our "why".

Over the past week, I sat down with a number of the people who make up our team at BidPrime. I posed the question to each of them. "What is your why?" Here are a handful of the responses:

"I've always been fascinated with human behavior and love interacting with people. I enjoy being of service to others; getting to know them, their wants and needs. Problem solving is like a game to me. Being able to connect with my clients, identifying their needs, match it with a solution, and be of service in the process, now thats a good day for me!"

David H

"The most rewarding thing to me about what I do is helping clients solve problems and realize their goals. BidPrime holds massive potential to increase business efficiency and drive revenue growth. I pride myself on helping customers make the right decision about BidPrime and teaching them how to use our service to the fullest."

"I love my job at BidPrime, because it enables me to interact with and help thousands of people over the years, who are typically in a role that is in great need of what BidPrime is providing.

I have never dealt with a Sales Representative or Contract Administrator who did not love what this robust system can do! Nobody else offers a more comprehensive coverage, complete with Bid Documentation and high touch Client Care, it's just not out there.

And the pricing is very reasonable, I am told repeatedly that people are asked to pay more and receive much less from other services. BidPrime allows me to customize pricing, based on each particular Company's needs. Everything at BidPrime can be customized, which makes people very happy, because everyone is unique!

If I can get this in front of people who use it, there is no question that they will want to keep it. That makes my job not only fun, and interesting, but also rewarding. People are so happy with our service and appreciative that I followed up with them.

BidPrime makes the day to day life of anyone in Government Contracting better! I hear this over and over from hundreds of people I have sold to. It saves them time and money, and reduces their stress. It makes me feel like I have really been able to help them!"

"When we first launched BidPrime I saw a huge opportunity to improve and empower other businesses through our platform. It's something I take very seriously with regard to several core components of our service from Day One: comprehensive coverage and real-time delivery of those bids.

Every day, I find that providing our clients bid and contract data they really need to thrive and succeed extremely validating. Also, I feel a great responsibility to provide the best possible service for our clients, given the relationships I've built over the years and my attachment to BidPrime.

Above all, my favorite part of the day is hearing first hand from our clients of their growth and success in the public sector. That feedback fuels my motivation more than anything."

"BidPrime is my why as it's a necessary tool needed for anyone that pursues public sector bidding opportunities.

Our technology supersedes the competition, our co-founders are some of the savviest and most intelligent techies I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Who doesn't love pushing a product into an old school stale market of old technology in order to lead by example and shake up the old competition?

I love the battlefield of government bids."

"I love talking to clients across North America and setting FREE trials so they can see for themselves why BidPrime is the best Bid Database Service to locate and WIN Public Sector business!

My previous experience in submitting Bids and RFP's gives me the insight to understand the issues they are dealing with and explain why BidPrime tools and service can simplify this process."

David J

"I would say my favorite part of BidPrime sales is finally reaching a client whom was not interested in looking at us and hearing them say, WOW! This is great! Thanks for the continued follow up as this is going to be a game changer for us."

"I have the best of two worlds. I assist in ensuring our clients receive the very best client support possible. Without question, the highlight of my day is each time I hear about clients winning government contracts. I know that can be a difference maker for them and I feel like I had a small part in helping to make that happen.

In my other world, I put on my creative hat and help in Marketing. It is so fun to help tell the stories about my BidPrime friends and the company. I confess I also look forward to helping Jim and Bill produce 'The Big Bid Theory". Each episode is "interesting"." :-)

Now, it's your turn. What is your why?

RFP Insights. Power Your Business to Win.

Our developers and client support team have partnered with our clients to expand upon the robust solutions we offer businesses pursuing public sector contracts.

RFP Insights is here!

RFP Insights will assist businesses in gaining an understanding on why they may have lost on a public sector RFP, why a competitor won, and obtain other important insights, before submitting future proposals.

We have a team of public information legal professionals who will research, compile, and provide competitive intelligence on active and expired bids and RFPs.

Each request will contain any of the following, for a small fee:

  • Existing contract with the current statement of work.
  • Copy of winning proposal.
  • Agency evaluations, tabulations, scoring sheets and matrices.
  • Last 1-year invoices / purchase orders / task orders attached to the contract.

As part of the information above, BidPrime's public information legal professionals will complete the following, within strict ethical standards:

  • Identify appropriate agency contacts;
  • File FOIA / Public Information petitions using relative and appropriate state guidelines;
  • Assure anonymity and confidentiality with each request;
  • Complete request with coordination from Client;
  • Delivery of related documents in timely manner, in electronic PDF format.

We will cover the first $200 of any agency processing and copying fees requested by the agency, included in the cost of BidPrime's RFP Insights package. Some additional fees may be required for agencies that require more than $200 for appropriate redaction and processing fees.

Active BidPrime clients will be able to use the RFP Insights service at a significant discount.

Watch this video as Stephen Hetzel, our Co-Founder, covers the details:

Let us know what you think about RFP Insights. To discuss how this service can help you win government contracts, please call us at 1.888.808.5356.

Any Hope in Sight as U.S. Bridges Crumble?

So many questions. Is President Trump's pledge to improve the U.S. infrastructure a bridge to nowhere? Earlier this week, President Trump signed an executive order with one goal of improving turnaround times on permits associated with infrastructure projects. By now, a vast majority of Americans are fully aware that there are many approvals and projects needed to improve U.S. infrastructure to even satisfactory levels. Executive orders aside, many are well past apprehensive considering the question, "What will happen if decisive action is not taken?"

In terms of investment, the approximate figure of $1 trillion is the target we have seen for some time. Without question, that is a substantial investment to repair, rebuild and create new infrastucture. Credible evidence indicates that investment made today will lessen, or prevent, a complicated set of inevitable problems down the road.

As Stephen Hetzel, from BidPrime, discussed back in January, we continue to be optimistic that some form of a bill, with the objective of addressing this increasing issue, will make it through. Go to 3:22 to hear Hetzel's prediction, on potential infrastucture-related activity, and a number of additional industries.

You have seen the footage by now. From Trump Tower earlier this week, President Trump informed the assembled media, "My administration is working every day to deliver the world-class infrastructure that our people deserve and, frankly, that our country deserves." The success of the executive order notwithstanding, we have been paying close attention to the recent public sector purchasing activity related to all aspects of infrastucture. Dating back to one of our original reports, 'Government Bids: Addressing National Deficient Bridge Infrastructure', and based on our conversation with Greg DiLoreto, from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), a team of analysts here have particulary followed activity associated with bridge maintenance, materials, construction, etc...

At the point of our report, from two years ago (referenced and linked above), appriximately 10% of U.S. bridges were considered to be “structurally deficient”. Fast forward to today. In the May 2017 edition of, Roads and Bridges, disclosed their analysis titled 'State of the Bridges Report' In part, based on data from the ASCE report card, they highlighted that 9.1% of U.S. bridges still carried the distinction of being classified "structurally deficient". Baby steps.

Source: ASCE

An ominous note from that same ASCE report speculates, "The most recent federal estimate puts the backlog of rehabilitation projects for the nation's bridges at $123 billion." Again, we know for certain that a number of angencies within the U.S. federal government, along with U.S. state and local governments, are putting out to bid and executing a multitude of projects. Notably, over the past 365 days, there have been close to five hundred RFPs and bid requests specifically associated with "bridges".

Top 5 states, by bid totals, in order:

  • Virginia
  • California
  • Pennsylvania
  • New York
  • Minnesota

Top 5 federal agencies, by bid totals, in order:

  • Department of the Army
  • Department of the Navy
  • Department of Agriculture
  • Defense Logistics Agency
  • Department of the Interior

Sample active bids / RFPs

Bridge Repairs PA
Bridge Span Materials LA
Bridge and Structures Inspection MN
Bridge Demolition AZ
Bridge Construction CA

We see it. As everyone awaits the outcomes from the latest round of annoucements, a multitude of governments across the country have not been, and are not currently idly standing by on the sidelines. Action is being taken, but that burning question remains, "When do the comprehensive efforts commence?"

According to a poll released this week by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, "eighty-nine (89) percent of all Americans believe that investments in infrastructure will strengthen the U.S. economy, including eight-six (86) percent of city residents and eighty-nine (89) percent of rural Americans." Regardless of your opinion on polls, or level of interest on the influences remedying U.S. infrastructure will have on the economy, can there be much dispute that the time has come to move on this? As has been our position, and will cotinued to be so, we will track and communicate our findings.

Trump Signs Infrastructure Executive Order. Now What?

The clock is most assuredly ticking. Going back to the campaign trail, President Donald Trump has professed his desire for the United States to address the horrible situation with the nation's deficient infrastructure. The latest? Earlier this week, President Trump signed an executive order targeted towards taking steps to improve the U.S. infrastructure.

What now? Along with a team of analysts, I have been keeping a close watch on public sector purchasing related to: roads, bridges, airports, ports, railroads, utilities, public transportation and a variety of other applicable industries.

As I mention in the video, there are many U.S. governments, at the federal, state, and local levels, which have taken action to address issues. For certain, and as we have noted in earlier reports analyzing RFP/bid request activity, many plans have been in the works. Many projects were started and implemented, since well before President Trump took office. There are more going on right now.

The question remains: Will the U.S. take all of the necessary decisive action to improve upon the D+ grade, recently issued by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)?

What did President Trump say:

Meet Our Team

Best in industry client support doesn't happen by luck, nor accident. At BidPrime, outstanding client support isn't a priority, it is the first priority. To make it happen, it takes a commitment from leadership and a team of dedicated, talented professionals.

So, who are these people who make it happen on a daily basis, each day? By way of introduction, and who better to tell a part of their stories than the actual people themselves? Anna, Tra, Lucas, Brien, and everyone else in our company, would be the first to admit that first class client support takes buy-in from everyone. They also have this to say about some of their backgrounds and what it's like being a part of our team.

Meet Our Team:

To experience this outstanding client support, it is possible!, and learn more about our company, please call us at 1.888.808.5356 or visit our website: BidPrime.

In The Beginning. BidPrime's Early Days.

How far have we come? As we approach the eight year anniversary of the launch of our company, we thought it would be a good opportunity to turn back the clock and look back.

Back in 2009, BidPrime started with three people working tirelessly to expand upon the idea of Big Data and government. Since those humble beginnings, we have changed the industry through our technology, refreshing approach to client support, and by assembling a team of dedicated, talented, and varied professionals.

Has it all been easy? Similar to most things worth doing well, there has been a lot of sweat equity involved in ascending to the top of our industry. Today, we are many years beyond the point of implementing and are now focused on perfecting and expanding, while always striving towards our original idea that "anything is possible".

This video was shot in our Austin offices. Close to an international airport, a technology center, and experiencing notable growth, the capital city of Texas has always been the right place, at the right time, for us.

We look forward to many more years of exceeding the promises to, and expectations of, our clients. As in our beginning, we will always focus on growing our business to the benefit of our clients, our team, and friends of our company.

In this video, a number of our teammates look back at the origins of our company, with a nod towards where we are today and our future.

In The Beginning:

That is a part of our story. What about you? We would enjoy and appreciate how your company got its start. To share your story, or to find out more about how we started, give us a call to 1.888.808.5356 or visit our website: BidPrime.

David shared some history, interesting factoids, spells out what is subject to FOIA, and more. David and Bill discussed the growth in request numbers, “predatory” activity, and David closed down the segment with a look into FOIA’s future. Also, see below, David shared some informative resources. Check them out!
